Wake up to the sound of the waves. This is Mellow Yellow, a beach-front house built for one purpose: to put you as close to the Caribbean as four walls will allow.

The First Impression

Step inside and the great room does the talking; a soaring 20-foot open beam ceiling, hand-built from local Nargusta and Santa Maria hardwood, framing over 500 square feet of living space that breathes with the ocean breeze. This isn’t a house that was decorated around the view. It was built for it.

Where You’ll Sleep

Two master suites anchor either end of the great room, each with its own rhythm of privacy and space. Custom Belizean hardwood queen beds. Nightstands with reading lamps for the nights you don’t want the story to end. Ample closet space, built-in drawers, and thoughtful interior lighting; small touches that make a room feel finished, not furnished.

The ensuites are where this place really flexes: double sinks, quiet-flush toilets, and glass-block rain showers big enough to feel like a retreat inside a retreat. Accent lighting over the vanities. Real storage. And tucked into a laundry closet in one bath; a stacking washer/dryer, detergent included, because vacation shouldn’t mean living out of a suitcase.

The Heart of the House

The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to work; double-door fridge with ice maker and a potable water dispenser, full-size gas range, a dishwasher quiet enough you’ll forget it’s running. Granite countertops stretch into a 12-foot breakfast bar with four swivel stools, all framed by mahogany cabinetry made locally, by hand.

Pull up a chair at the dining table seats 6 comfortably, 8 if the whole crew shows up; or sink into the rattan settee under the 48″ flat screen for a movie night with the doors open and the ocean as background noise.

Life Outside

The same non-slip ceramic tile that runs through the interior carries you out onto the front deck 450 square feet running the full width of the house, framed by an exotic cane ceiling that turns “outdoor space” into its own destination. Two hammocks, one on each end, are basically begging for an afternoon nap. Ceiling fans keep the breeze moving even when the air doesn’t.

Then there’s the rooftop, a second 500-square-foot deck, reached by spiral staircase, delivering 360-degree panoramic views. Sunrises. Sunsets. Stars you forgot existed. This is the deck where we sat under a full moon rising over the sea and decided: we’re buying this house. We think you’ll understand why the moment you’re standing up there yourself.
